What might be the social/political implications for there being a gay gene?
The two social implications were that it was their lifestyle and choice to be gay or that it was due to a gene they had called the "gay gene." Some parts of the community thought that gay people were just gay because they chose to be it. Another part of the community argued how it wasn't their fault that they were gay, but a gene called the "gay gene." Because they are infected by this gene, they cannot resist or do anything about it, it's a part of them. The community declared that they shouldn't have been discriminated or looked down from the rest of the society. Due to the new information, some of the society looked at them more open minded when they realized that they couldn't help their gayness. But, this had also caused a problem. The society protested that the gay gene was a defect or an abnormal gene, and should be treated right away. This caused many people to demand for the medicine to cure their abnormalities.

What seems to be the major motivating factor(s) for people that are affected by an eating disorder?
The major motivating factors for people that are affected by an eating disorder is probably the media around us. If you turned on your television set right now and flip through some channels, I could probably guarantee that you would see quite a lot of skinny models on the television in a drama or even fashion shows. They are seen by the public as idols and the "ideal body image" everyone wants. This may cause the people to misunderstand the concept and start a ridiculous diet that might hurt them both physically and mentally forever. They might think that those models are so popular and pretty and try to follow them by trying to become them. But, this would only result in vain and might cause the person serious damage to themselves.
